Innovative Kiwi Guiding System for higher yields and sustainable orchards
Our patent-registered Kiwi Guiding System is an innovative trellising solution specifically engineered for liana crops, such as kiwi vines. Featuring a unique braided cord architecture, the system supports cane renewal at an optimized angle, achieving an ideal balance between vegetative vigor, flowering, and production performance.
This guiding system consists of a top and bottom cord interconnected by vertical liana support cords, installed on both sides of the structural branches.
The result is an orchard that is easier to manage and builds its canopy faster. In a SIKIG field trial at Château Kiwi, the Kiwi Guiding system delivered 17 t/ha in the first production year, against 8 t/ha for the best-performing control, which means a substantial increase in yield of 112,5% during the first year of production1. The trial also recorded more than 90% canopy cover and improved branch vigor, alongside reported labor savings during pruning and bending. These results highlight the potential of the system to improve the efficiency and productivity of kiwifruit cultivation.
Why growers choose the Kiwi Guiding System:
- Better canopy, healthier vines. Fewer breakages, limitation of Psa (pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae,
better branch alignment and thicker fruiting wood). - Higher first-year yield. 17 t/ha in the SIKIG trial, against 8 t/ha for the best-performing control.
- Less labor. 100 hours per hectare saved in pruning and bending.
- Fast installation. 3–5 hectares per day with a team of 3–4 people and a motorized platform.
- Protected technology. Patented braided-cord design, made in Europe.
- Higher profitability. Better yield, more homogenius fruit sizes, less labour cost.
The BRAIDED Guiding System represents a high-performance engineering solution for controlled liane growth, increased productivity, and sustainable orchard management.
